Three Australian passengers aboard RCI-Royal Caribbean's Quantum of the Seas were medically evacuated in 2 separate rescue operations during an 8-day South Pacific cruise.

The evacuations, coordinated by the Armed Forces in New Caledonia’s maritime gendarmerie patrol boat, took place on February 19th, with all three individuals transferred to Medipole for urgent medical care.

The first medical emergency was reported on the evening of February 18th as Quantum of the Seas approached Noumea. By 8:00 a.m. the following day, the patrol boat had completed the transfer of the first patient to shore.

Shortly after the vessel prepared to depart New Caledonia’s lagoon, a second emergency was declared. The maritime pilot on board notified the Operational Surveillance and Rescue Centre (COSS) that two additional passengers required immediate medical attention. Following a remote medical consultation, the patrol boat was redeployed, completing the second evacuation by 10:30 a.m.

All three passengers were safely transported to Medipole for further treatment, while Quantum of the Seas resumed her scheduled voyage - an 8-day, round-trip South Pacific Cruise from Brisbane (Australia).
