American Cruise Lines/ACL's newest ship - American Legend, was officially christened in Key West, Florida, marking the latest addition to the company’s innovative Project Blue series.
The ceremony took place at Mallory Square while the vessel was docked along its 8-day Florida Gulf Coast & Keys itinerary, which sails roundtrip from St. Petersburg, Florida.
Designed for fully domestic cruising, American Legend offers an exclusive opportunity to explore the Sunshine State while adhering to ACL's commitment to small-ship travel. The christening event featured speeches, plaque exchanges, and live music, with Key West Mayor Danise DeeDee Henriquez serving as the ship’s official godmother. She joined ACL's President & CEO, Charles B. Robertson, for the ceremonial bottle smashing on the top deck. Attendees included city and port officials, local excursion partners, Key West Police and Fire representatives, and members of the ship’s crew.
During the ceremony, American Cruise Lines was recognized for its environmentally responsible approach to cruising and its ongoing investment in modern small ships that support local economies. The event concluded with guests joining in a spirited rendition of Margaritaville, a tribute to Key West’s signature maritime culture.
