P&O Australia cancels Pacific Encounter’s final cruise due to Tropical Cyclone Alfred

   March 9, 2025 ,   Accidents

P&O Australia canceled the final scheduled voyage of the Pacific Encounter ship, citing severe disruptions caused by Tropical Cyclone Alfred.

The 7-night roundtrip from Brisbane (departure March 8th, Pacific Island Hopper itinerary) will no longer take place.

The cancellation occurs just ahead of Pacific Encounter’s planned transfer to CCL-Carnival Cruise Line in mid-March.

Affected passengers will receive a full refund covering the cruise fare, pre-paid items, packages, and shore excursions. P&O has advised guests to contact their travel insurance providers for reimbursement of additional expenses, including flight cancellation fees.

Meanwhile, Carnival Australia continues to assess the cyclone’s impact on its operations. Following last week’s cancellation of a 3-night cruise, Carnival Luminosa is now expected to resume service with a revised itinerary, departing on March 9th.

Passengers booked on upcoming sailings are advised to monitor official communications for further updates regarding itinerary adjustments and operational changes.
