AmaWaterways has announced a collaboration with Smithsonian Journeys to offer exclusive cultural and educational experiences on select European river cruises, commencing in April 2026.
This partnership will feature 33 departures along the Danube, Rhine, Douro, Seine, and Rhone rivers, integrating Smithsonian-crafted experiences that draw upon the institution's extensive legacy as a leading museum, education, and research complex.
Each sailing will include two Smithsonian Journeys Experts, providing in-depth engagement with local history, art, and traditions. These river cruises, ranging from eight to 15 days, will offer exclusive excursions and pre- and post-cruise land packages hosted by an AmaWaterways Cruise Manager. The sailings will also include fine dining, unlimited beverages with meals, small group excursions, wellness programs, airport transfers, and more.
Highlighted itineraries include "Holland and Belgium in Spring: A River Cruise at Tulip Time," available in April 2026, "Cruising the Upper Danube: Romantic Ports from Bavaria to Budapest," "The Grand Danube: A River Cruise from Germany to Romania," and "Christmas Markets along the Rhine and Danube."
