In a strategic move to enhance its presence in the luxury expedition cruise sector, Ponant has rebranded as Ponant Explorations Group.

This rebranding aligns with the company's recent acquisition of a majority stake in Aqua Expeditions, expanding its portfolio to include 3 distinct commercial brands: Ponant Explorations, Paul Gauguin Cruises, and Aqua Expeditions. ​

Ponant Explorations Group remains committed to its core identity, focusing on delivering unparalleled travel experiences to iconic destinations. The group emphasizes exclusive access to secluded locations, utilizing human-scale ships that accommodate fewer than 500 guests, and upholding a dedication to excellence in service. ​

The three brands under the Ponant Explorations Group umbrella are defined as follows:

  • Ponant Explorations: The group's historic brand, specializing in voyages that explore natural wonders and ancestral cultures, steering clear of crowded maritime routes. Expeditions are led by experts who organize safe shore excursions and onboard cultural, scientific, or historical lectures. ​
  • Paul Gauguin Cruises: Since 1998, this brand has been offering cruises in Tahiti, French Polynesia, and the South Pacific aboard the ms Paul Gauguin, a vessel with 165 cabins and suites. The brand is renowned for its relaxed, international, and authentic atmosphere. ​
  • Aqua Expeditions: Specializing in luxury small-ship expeditions, Aqua Expeditions explores some of the world's most biodiverse and culturally significant destinations.
