RSSC-Regent Seven Seas Cruises has conducted the keel-laying ceremony for Seven Seas Prestige at the Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera (Venice, Italy) marking a significant stage in the vessel's construction. This event is traditionally regarded as a key moment in shipbuilding, signifying the transition from initial assembly to full-scale construction.

To commemorate the occasion, three coins were welded onto the keel, a longstanding maritime tradition believed to bestow good fortune upon the ship and all who sail aboard. The ceremony was attended by industry executives, including Harry Sommer, president of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings.

With a displacement of 77,000 tons and a passenger capacity of 850, Seven Seas Prestige is set to be the first unit in Regent’s new ship class. It features one of the highest passenger-to-space ratios in the industry, offering a selection of newly designed accommodations, including an updated interpretation of the Regent Suite, along with enhanced dining options. The vessel is scheduled for delivery in 2026.

Jason Montague, chief luxury officer at Regent Seven Seas Cruises, emphasized that Seven Seas Prestige represents the brand’s ongoing commitment to refining the standards of ultra-luxury travel. He noted that the ship’s construction reinforces Regent’s position as a leader in the luxury cruise sector.

Luigi Matarazzo, general manager of Fincantieri’s Merchant Ships Division, highlighted the shared values of expertise, passion, and precision between Regent and Fincantieri. He stated that Fincantieri is well-positioned to bring Seven Seas Prestige to fruition, heralding a new era of excellence for the cruise line.

Matarazzo further remarked that the keel-laying ceremony represents a milestone not only for Regent and Fincantieri but for the cruise industry as a whole, as it continues to push the boundaries of ultra-luxury cruising.
