The Port of Dover (England) has successfully completed an extensive GBP 6 million upgrade to its mooring facilities at two dedicated cruise berths, paving the way for some of the world’s largest cruise liners to dock at the Kent port in the coming years. This development marks the initial phase of a broader expansion plan for Dover Cruise, an integral component of the Port’s long-term vision leading up to 2050.

Peter Wright, Head of Cruise at the Port, expressed the team’s enthusiasm about this milestone, emphasizing that it underscores Dover’s commitment to solidifying its position as one of the UK’s premier cruise destinations. He extended his gratitude to the engineering and operations teams for their efforts in successfully delivering this critical project.

With the 2025 season already in full motion, Wright noted the increasing diversity of cruise ships bringing in thousands of visitors each week during peak periods. He affirmed that Dover’s strategic vision for the cruise sector would not only maintain the port’s leading role in the industry but also generate significant economic benefits for the surrounding region.

Sonia Limbrick, Head of Business Development for Cruise at the Port, highlighted Dover’s unique appeal to cruise travelers, citing its rich heritage, cultural attractions, and reputation for exceptional service. She expressed excitement about strengthening partnerships with cruise operators and ensuring Dover remains a preferred destination on global itineraries.

The Port’s Cruise team is set to showcase these latest developments at Seatrade Cruise Global in Miami (Florida USA) from April 7th to 10th, where they will be available at stand 2013 to discuss Dover’s future in the industry.
