Swedish pleasure cruiser BIRKA GOTLAND marks her first anniversary of service. Over the past year, the vessel has operated to seven Baltic Sea ports and carried more than 532,000 passengers while fine-tuning its cruise offerings for the Swedish market. CEO Kenneth Gustavsson noted that further developments are scheduled for the second year.

Launched in March 2024 following a SEK 70 million (~US$7 million) upgrade—which included enhancements such as a redesigned spa and an updated Terrace on deck 10—the ship has since adjusted her onboard concepts to better serve Swedish cruise travellers.

Gustavsson stated that their full focus is to continue creating Sweden's premier cruise experience, referring to ongoing improvements in food, entertainment, retail, and relaxation options.

Bookings for the May–June period have already increased by 30% compared to the previous year.

In addition to the primary routes between Stockholm, Åland, and Visby, the vessel has served additional ports including the High Coast, Ystad, Bornholm, and Riga. The upcoming summer season in 2025 is set to feature a mix of shorter and longer itineraries throughout the Baltic Sea.
