Building on more than three decades of regional maritime operations, the StarCruises brand commences a significant new chapter with the arrival of Star Voyager at Laem Chabang Port—Thailand’s principal cruise gateway to the capital, Bangkok. The ship’s inaugural sailing from Thai shores marks the reintroduction of the revitalized StarCruises fleet to the Southeast Asian cruise circuit.

This deployment reflects both strategic intent and regional growth, positioning Thailand as an increasingly prominent hub for cruise tourism in Asia. The Star Voyager, newly refurbished at a cost of US$50 million, now operates a 5-night round-trip itinerary from Laem Chabang, calling at Ko Samui and Singapore. The initial departure occurred on April 22, 2025, with a second scheduled for May 7, 2025.

The vessel’s homeporting in Thailand is anticipated to enhance inbound cruise flows to both Bangkok and Ko Samui, strengthening the country’s cruise tourism infrastructure and economic impact.

A formal reception and inaugural ceremony were held at Laem Chabang, attended by senior representatives from the Tourism Authority of Thailand and StarDream Cruises. Among those present were Miss Pattaraanong Na Chiangmai, Deputy Governor for International Marketing Asia and South Pacific, and Mr. Michael Goh, President of StarDream Cruises, joined by officials from various ministries and tourism agencies.
