Royal Caribbean announced that the Adventure of the Seas ship will undergo a 30-day refurbishment in order to add new features and updates, as well as complete work that was delayed in 2016. Due to Hurricane Matthew, the ship's drydock in Freeport Bahamas was only partially completed.
Adventure of the Seas dry-dock will start on January 31, 2018 and will include the addition of new inside and oceanview staterooms, a Suite Lounge and specialty restaurant Izumi Japanese Cuisine.
To accommodate the ship's 30-day long dry-dock refurbishment in 2018 (January 31-March 1), RCI had to cancel all Adventure Of The Seas cruises in 2018 scheduled for the period January 13 - February 10.
- Passengers booked on the affected itineraries were re-accommodated and offered as compensation the following package. USD 200 per cabin onboard credit, USD 400 per suite onboard credit (Junior Suite and above grades), flight change fee (due to airline reservation changes) up to USD 200 per person reimbursment for domestic / USA flights and USD 300 per person reimbursment for international flights.
- The list of Adventure of the Seas 2018 itinerary dates offered for re-booking includes: February 12, March 10, 17 and April 7, 14.
- Substitute / alternative dates of departure were also offered on Jewel of the Seas itineraries – departure dates January 14, 21, 28, February 4, 18, 25, and March 4, 11.
