A 61-year-old American cruise passenger is missing, believed to have fallen overboard from a Princess Cruises ship that left from New Caledonia to Australia more than a week ago.
The man was travelling alone on Golden Princess, which yesterday, May 4, docked in Sydney Harbour. Cabin staff have raised concerns about the passenger’s whereabouts but a thorough search of the cruise ship failed to locate him. The Australian Maritime Safety Authority and New South Wales police have been notified and vessel’s CCTV footage reviewed.
Golden Princess departed Sydney on yesterday and is currently en route to Brisbane and PNG. The family of the passenger have been informed. Princess Cruises announced that the man’s disappearance was treated as a man overboard case.
