For the first time in history Cunard Line's Queen Elizabeth met HMS Queen Elizabeth (UK's largest aircraft carrier / link to queenelizabethcruises.net) on Thursday, July 6, off the coast of Scotland.

The rendezvous of the two vessels, that share the same name and godmother (both christened by HM The Queen), happened in the Moray Firth off Scotland's coast during the 13-night British Isles' tour of Queen Elizabeth.

"It is a huge honour for myself and the crew of Cunard's Queen Elizabeth to meet HMS Queen Elizabeth for the first time," said Capt. Inger Klein Thorhauge of Cunard Line's Queen Elizabeth.

"To share the sea with the Royal Navy's lead ship of the Queen Elizabeth-class of aircraft carrier and the largest warship ever built for the UK is a pleasure and I would like to take this opportunity to wish Commander Kyd and his crew well with their sea trials."
