Italian cruise company Costa in collaboration with Mumbai Port Trust and Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation announced the launch of the first domestic luxury cruise in India on Mumbai-Cochin sector starting this November.
The launch comes about a year after Carnival Asia, Costa Cruises' operator, brought the first luxury voyage to India via launching a Mumbai-Maldives cruise on Costa NeoClassica.
According to Maharashtra Tourism Minister Jaykumar Raval, Indians are increasingly embracing luxury and leisure lifestyles and by 2031 domestic cruise tourism industry is estimated to grow to 1.50 million.
The Mumbai-Cochin cruise will take 4 nights, the Cochin-Maldives will be 3 nights, besides the existing option of Mumbai-Maldives via Cochin for 7 nights.
