Cruise ships are back in operation in Florida after Irma, beginning today, September 12, as soon as ports reopen. However, it may be difficult for passengers to make it to the state and catch their voyages.
Most major Florida airports were closed yesterday, with openings beginning today, though airports are not expected to offer a full schedule of flights yet.
Carnival Cruise Line intends to operate 3 sailings from Miami beginning today and one from Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades). Both ports were closed yesterday, but the line said it expected the ports would reopen Tuesday morning. It will operate one cruise from Miami’s PortMiami and Orlando’s Port Canaveral on Wednesday, September 13.
Carnival urged travellers to contact their airlines to confirm the specific arrangements.
