An ambitious GBP 50 million funding bid is drawn up aimed at turning plans for a brand new cruise terminal in Hull into reality.
Hull's city council officials said securing government backing for the project was the only way it would happen.
Hopes are already high the success of Hull's UK City of Culture year would persuade ministers to get behind it.
Currently earmarked for a site near The Deep, the development envisages new riverside berth for visiting ships. The advantage of the site over the alternative location at Albert Dock is most of the land here is owned by the council.
