During her 2nd scheduled docking period since her launch in 2013 at Blohm+Voss in Hamburg between September 13-27, 2017, the look, concept and technology of Hapag-Lloyd’ ms Europa 2 have been updated.
This included redesigning the located on Deck 9 Belvedere lounge and Herrenzimmer bar on Deck 4. Ship's Spa has also received beauty treatment. Approx 1,000 points are included in the full list of changes.
During the last 14 days, about 370 crew members and 550 external specialists have worked on cosmetic repairs, conceptual changes and maintenance tasks. In total, the craftsmen have laid 4,000 m2 (43,055 ft2) of new carpet and used 1,099 gallons (5,000 litres) of paint.
A particular highlight is the tiny Europa 2 museum, located in the waiting area of ship's Cruise Sales Lounge. Also redesigned has been the auditorium on the same deck. The new studio will host workshops, cinema viewings and talks. Yoga classes can be also held here.
Deck 4 of Europa 2 is filled with public areas like speciality restaurants and bars. Herrenzimmer gin bar will boast a “new look” under the name "Collins".
Opposite "Collins" is the former Jazz Club, now renamed "Club 2". New seating has been added to the Italian Serenissima Restaurant. The Teens’ Club moved from Deck 7 to Deck 4 in order to make the teens’ spot more private.
Former Speisezimmer private dining room has been transformed into a vast, relaxing lounge area featuring cosy alcoves and games consoles. The route to the Teens’ Club is indicated by graffiti work of Lady Wave.
After leaving the shipyard, 5-stars-plus ms Europa 2 will first sail out of Hamburg through Kiel Canal to Oslo and Gothenburg, then back to Hamburg.
