P&O Cruises Australia Replaces Existing Ships

The Sydney-based unit in Carnival Corporation - P&O Cruises Australia, plans to replace its existing fleet of 5 ships, all of which built during the 1990s to other cruise brands, with more contemporary tonnage over time.

The company will receive the built in 2001 Golden Princess from sister-company Princess Cruises in 2020, which is a year later than it had been envisaged to obtain a 135,000 GT newbuild from Fincantieri.

It would have been the first newbuilding of the line, but Carnival group decided to allocate the vessel to Carnival Cruise Line instead.
