The Caribbean island of Grenada expects a big jump in cruise ship visits this coming season. According to Patricia Maher, CEO of Grenada Tourism Authority, Grenada will see an additional 28 cruise calls in 2017-2018 season.
Maher said the call was due in part to a shift by cruise companies in the wake of Hurricanes Irma and Maria, that have made a number of major destinations temporarily inaccessible.

Lines that will be sending more vessels include Carnival Cruise Line, Costa Cruises, MSC Cruises, Windstar, P&O Cruises and Seabourn.
The increase comes as the island of Grenada has been working hard to reposition itself within cruise industry.
