Celebrity Cruises' President and CEO Lisa Lutoff-Perlo revealed that when its Celebrity Solstice ship arrives in Sydney NSW for the beginning of its 6th season next week, it will offer same-sex marriages.
She explained that Celebrity ships were Malta-flagged and the Maltese parliament had voted 66-1 to legalize this kind of marriage.
The move could be seen as controversial, as Australia votes on the issue, but Ms Lutoff-Perlo said that Celebrity was proud to be the world's first cruise line to offer same-sex marriage.
She added that Australia was Celebrity Cruises’ 3rd largest market, with a loyal following.
Lisa Lutoff-Perlo presented the new Celebrity Edge ships shaping NCL's future and announced a US$400 million refurbishment program for the rest of the fleet.
