Next year, Silversea begins to offer high-end land tours as pre- and post-cruise option. The "Couture Collection" of the top-luxury cruise company will feature vintage rail in India, private helicopter service in Mongolia, and Gulfstream jets in and out of Antarctica. Prices average US$34,000 per guest for each of the 5‐ to 11‐day adventures, with 11‐day South Pole itinerary from US$78,000 per passenger.
The first offering, departing January 2, is the excursion named "White Desert & South Pole" that offers flights in/out of Antarctica on Gulfstream business jet as well as a stay at Whichaway Camp. This can be combined with a December 18 voyage aboard Silver Spirit to Antarctica.
Another trip in the collection is the "Revealing the Legends of Fire and Ice," a 5-day trip in Iceland from US$45,199 that includes mountain biking, kayaking, passage through a man-made ice tunnel, lunch on top of a glacier-capped volcano, and a stay at Deplar sheep farm, now turned into luxury lodge.
Departures on August 2 or 8 are easily combined with Silver Cloud expeditions which depart July 27 or August 8.
The least expensive of 9 selections in the collection, 6-day "Namibia & Rovos Rail," features a stay at Little Kulala Camp in Kulala Wilderness Reserve, a hot-air balloon trip, flight-seeing excursion, and a journey to Cape Town via luxury Rovos Rail. January 8 or March 14 departures are listed at US$11,299 with connections to Silver Spirit's January 15 cruise or Silver Cloud's March 21 voyage.
