On Tuesday, October 17, AIDAcara set out from Hamburg on the very first world cruise of AIDA Cruises.
The 116-day voyage around the world will take the ship, over the course of 116 days through February 10, 2018, to a total of 41 ports in 23 countries on 5 continents.
Highlights of the journey include Easter Island, Australia and New Zealand, Sugar Loaf Mountain Rio de Janeiro and Maldives.
Before AIDAcara and about 1,100 passengers aboard waved goodbye to the Hanseatic City, Capt. Lars Kruger made a trip from the terminal in Steinwerder around the cruise port passing Hafencity and the Elbphilharmonie. The ship then set out to Altona where a fireworks display illuminated the night sky of Hamburg at 9.30 p.m.
Nearly 2,000 spectators watched the farewell of AIDAcara from the banks of river Elbe or live on FB.
