Dubai's new Mina Rashid Marina was inaugurated on Monday, November 20, by Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The Marina can harbour a total of 5,000 boats and yachts and accommodate 20,000 during the next few years. It's expected to develop into world-class entertainment attraction.
The project, carried out by P&O, part of DP World, is stretching over 13 km2 and features a number of facilities, such as Marina Cube, an integrated entertainment city.
Once operational, the marina will feature 19 designated docks from A to U, and 646 berths accommodating over 5,000 boats. As for entertainment, there are restaurants, cafes, retail shops and walking paths. The project also includes residential units and a spot to receive small seaplanes.
Dubai expects to receive more than 1 million cruise tourists by 2020, as well as the same number from inside the UAE.
