MSC Cruises took delivery of MSC Seaside today, November 29, at a ceremony in Monfalcone, Italy.
The new class of ship holding 5,119 passengers at max capacity will start year-round Caribbean sailing from Miami in December.
The ceremony took place at Fincantieri shipyard (Monfalcone, Italy), where Seaside’s sister ship MSC Seaview is taking shape as well and is due in 6 months.
At 153,516 GT, MSC Seaside is the biggest ship the line has sailed in North America. It will join MSC Cruises Divina in Miami for winter cruises and have her naming ceremony on December 21.
MSC had an option to contract for a 3rd Seaside-class ship, but has instead opted to sign up for 2 new ships, which the company dubbed Seaside EVO ships. These will be bigger than Seaside class at planned 169,380 GT and maximum capacity of 5,646 passengers. The new ships are scheduled for delivery in 2021 and 2023.
