One of the world's largest cruise ships, Ovation of the Seas, made an emergency stop in Albany WA Thursday afternoon, November 30.
The vessel made the unscheduled stop in King George Sound. RAC rescue helicopter arrived at the scene for medical emergency.
According to Cassandra Hughes, St John Ambulance regional manger, the patient had been treated onboard Ovation of the Seas by paramedics. The rescue helicopter dispatched the sick person who was transported to hospital.
It has not yet been confirmed if the patient was a crew member or a passenger onboard.
Southern Ports Authority announced the ship was granted the request to make emergency stop in Albany at approx 3: 30 p.m.
Ovation of the Seas left King George Sound at around 4:30 p.m. and is sailing on a one-way cruise Singapore to Sydney.
