The Coast Guard has medevaced an ill passenger off a Norwegian Cruise Line's ship 60 mi east of Chincoteague (Virginia), Saturday night, December 2.
Watchstanders at 5th Coast Guard District received notification from crew onboard Norwegian Breakaway of a 71-year-old passenger suffering from acute respiratory distress.
MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew from CG Air Station Elizabeth City launched in order to extract the man from the ship.
Once on scene, CG aircrew hoisted the passenger along with ship’s nurse and brought both to Norfolk Sentara General Hospital. The man is reportedly in stable condition.
