Carnival Corporation & plc announced it is partnering with UCI (Univision Communications Inc.), leading media company serving Hispanic America, aiming to develop the first ever O·C·E·A·N primetime series.
The new show will air at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT / 7:00 p.m. CT on Sundays beginning January 7 on Univision Network.
The Great Surprise (‘La Gran Sorpresa’) uses the power of travel in order to reunite families overcoming hardships created by separation, illness and other challenges. The 1-hour program is hosted by award-winning TV personality Poncho de Anda.
For the first 6 episodes of the series, de Anda will be joined by a number of popular personalities, such as “Despierta America’s” Maity Interiano and Franscisca Lachapel; Ligia Uriarte of Univision’s primetime dramedy, “Mi Marido Tiene Familia,” and Univision Deportes’ Karina Banda.
In its first season, the series surprises several families as they sail aboard cruise ships from Princess Cruises, Holland America Line and Carnival Cruise Line (3 of Carnival Corp.’s 9 global cruise brands) to exotic destinations like Cozumel, Mahogany Bay and Half Moon Cay.
‘La Gran Sorpresa’ is the 7th Ocean Original series that was created by Carnival Corp., the 5th to appear on network or cable TV in the United States and the first to engage the Hispanic community in the U.S.
