European river cruise operator CroisiEurope announced details of an 8-day Danube cruise which includes a stay in Oberammergau with seats for the popular 2020 Passion Play.
The itinerary includes a 6-day Danube cruise followed by 2 days in Oberammergau, Bavaria where passengers will get orchestra seats to the play performed every 10 years. Prices for the itinerary start at US$3,831 per person.
From May 16 through October 4, 2020, the Oberammergau's villagers will perform their Passion Play tradition that goes back to 1634. This unique stage performance, involving more than 2,000 people and a full orchestra, commemorates the journey of Christ into Jerusalem, his death and resurrection.
The itinerary starts with the 6-day Danube voyage from Budapest to Passau calling at Bratislava, Vienna, Melk, and then, passengers transfer to Oberammergau. Three departures are scheduled: on June 17, July 17, and August 26, 2020. Guests also have the option to participate in active excursions, including a hike in Little Carpathians mountain range, a visit to Melk Abbey and a tour of Hofburg Palace in Vienna.
A reverse itinerary is also offered, starting with 2 nights in Oberammergau followed by a 6-day cruise from Passau to Budapest with 2 departures on July 20 and August 19, 2020.
The voyage will take place on MS Symphonie, renovated and re-inaugurated in 2017. The price of US$3,831 per person includes the 6-day cruise with all drinks, meals, and port fees, the 2 nights in Oberammergau and orchestra seat tickets to Passion Play.
