There were no cruise ships in Grand Cayman Island's port on Thursday, January 18, after all 4 ship Captains decided that conditions were too rough for mooring in George Town Harbour.
The skippers headed back out to sea as they opted not to use an alternate landing point located on the island's southern coast, at Spotts Terminal.
According to David Carmichael, who runs Caribbean Marine Services, his boats were ready and able to ferry the cruise passengers to shore.
He added cruise liners had been tendered in worse conditions during the season and he was baffled by the decision.
Carnival Breeze, Carnival Sensation, Regal Princess and MSC Opera were due in port but were listed as “missed” arrivals on the website of the Port Authority.
