Carnival Cruise Line is searching for a female passenger who went overboard from one of its ships Sunday night (January 21) in the Gulf of Mexico.
According to company's statement, the 44-year-old woman was onboard Carnival Triumph, which sails out of New Orleans.
The vessel was on its 2nd day of a 5-day cruise. After visiting Cozumel, it was to visit Progreso on Tuesday, January 23, before returning to New Orleans on Thursday, January 25.
Carnival said that search-and-rescue operations were underway and the company was providing support and assistance to the family of the passenger.
No more details were available about the circumstances of the passenger's fall.
