Plymouth joined Torquay as officially being on the list of cruise ports in the United Kingdom.
The port city announced in had joined CruiseBritain as part of the plans to re-position itself as a major cruise destination ahead of the city’s Mayflower 400 commemorations, in 2020.
The CruiseBritain organization represents cruise providers and British ports, and Plymouth will be working with it to encourage cruise operators to develop ‘Mayflower commemoration’ voyages to England.
Plymouth also has ambitions to build a cruise terminal in the city by 2020.
The city joins the list of members alongside over a dozen other towns and cities.
The move follows the news that 5 cruise liners will dock in port Plymouth in 2018 as Plymouth begins to take advantage of the potential cruise liners bring.
