Dream Cruises opened a new route, choosing Surabaya as main destination.
According to Genting Cruise Line's marketing manager, Malaysia and Thailand as destinations were decreasing in popularity among Asians, and that's why they were opening up new Indonesian routes, specifically Bali and Surabaya.
Surabaya's Tanjung Perak Port (water depth 14 m) was seen as the best port to handle the Genting Dream cruise ship. The port is also equipped with a passenger terminal.
In December last year, there were 2,600 cruise passengers from Indonesia, and 600 of them came from Surabaya.
More than just a cruise ship, Genting Dream is a luxury resort specially designed for Asian market. The maiden voyage of the liner started in Singapore on November 16, 2017.
Packages offered range from a 2-night weekend to 5-night stays. Departing on Sundays from Singapore, the cruise liner sails to destinations in Java Sea and the Strait of Malacca.
