Disney Cruise Line will offer more visits to San Diego in 2018 and 2019 aboard Disney Wonder, according to a company announcement.
The cruise line will help Port of San Diego establish itself as a site where Southern California guests can find voyages that will transport them to cruise ports in Hawaii, South America, Panama Canal and Mexican Riviera.
San Diego cruise port is smaller than the port in Los Angeles but will welcome a total of 96 cruise ship visits during 2018-2019 season, compared with 83 in 2017-2018. An estimated 280,000 cruise passengers will set sail there.
Most sailings from the seasonal cruise port of San Diego take place from September through May.
Other than Disney cruises, which occur during the spring, San Diego offers voyages on Holland America Line's ms Eurodam and ms Nieuw Amsterdam, that sail to the Hawaiian Islands and Mexican Riviera. In addition, ms Volendam occasionally sails to the Panama Canal and South America.
Disney Wonder departs from San Diego March through May sailing to Mexico. Voyages range from 2 to 7 days. Prices start at US$1,184 per person for Inside cabin.
Most sailings visit Ensenada. 4- and 5-night Baja cruises include a call at Cabo San Lucas. 7-night cruises to the Mexican Riviera visit Cabo San Lucas and feature the scuba diving and snorkeling hot spots of Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan on Mexican mainland.
