Scenic Group announced it had purchased North American tour operator Mayflower Tours.
The tour operator will continue to work as a separate entity named Mayflower Cruises & Tours, with many of the same staff, executive team and focus on immersive tour programs.
However, the deal will provide Mayflower with greater access to ocean and river cruise itineraries on Scenic and sister brand, Emerald Waterways, while both cruise brands will add a number of the land-based tours of Mayflower to join with the cruise offerings.
Mayflower will still be based in Downers Grove, outside of Chicago, with its current President Nish Patel continuing in the leadership role.
The purchase marked the latest expansion for Scenic Group after the 2015 rebranding of the company, which pulled together Scenic Cruises and Scenic Tours under a single brand umbrella.
Scenic is looking forward to launching a couple of new luxury expedition ships – Scenic Eclipse in August, and Scenic Eclipse II in 2020 – with new features like submarines, helicopters and Polar Class 6 ice rating.
