Silversea’s ship Silver Spirit made her final call. The luxury vessel stopped at Dubai, finishing a cruise from Mumbai, prior to entering Fincantieri shipyard in Palermo on March 5.
The ship will stay through May 1 for extensive refurbishment including the addition of a prebuilt 49-foot-long midship section. This process will make Silver Spirit the first luxury vessel to be stretched. The purpose is to enhance shipboard experience and resemble public spaces and interior design of Silversea’s newest Silver Muse.
Despite the overall size increase of the vessel and added spaciousness, Silver Spirit will retain her intimate feel with a crew-to-passenger ratio of 1:1.48.
- Following the refit, the ship will boast extra suites and more dining options. Existing accommodations and venues will be refreshed. As a result of the lengthening, the pool deck will receive a redesign. A new health & fitness center will also be created.
- Specific to restaurants, Indochine, Atlantide, Silver Note and Spaccanapoli will join The Grill, La Terrazza, Seishin and La Dame, all with updated menus.
- Entirely new will be the Arts Cafe as a multipurpose performance venue for readers, coffee and tea aficionados. Spirit's Dolce Vita will take inspiration from line’s Italian heritage for gatherings with live piano music and cocktails. The Zagara spa will also make its way over from Silver Muse.
- The highest tier suites will get brand new horse hair toppers, handmade Savoir mattresses, and HD screens. 34 additional suites and the Balsorano suite will be added, with the latter decorated with items of personal value to Manfredi Lefebvre d'Ovidio di Balsorano de Clunieres, Silversea chairman.
The ship is due to return to service on May 6, 2018. On that day, Silver Spirit will set sail on a 7-day cruise from Civitavecchia-Rome to Barcelona. Rates begin at US$4,900 per person. Special savings are available for bookings made prior to March 31.
