Carnival Corporation is due to establish new industry peak in connectivity capabilities at sea when it tries to make unprecedented level of bandwidth available to passengers onboard Regal Princess from company's Princess Cruises brand.
Using the newly developed connectivity service, MedallionNet, as well as working with the world-leading provider of satellite-enabled connectivity solutions, SES Networks, Carnival Corp. and Princess Cruises will try to achieve bandwidth of 1.5 gigabits per second, which is the most ever delivered to a mobile platform.
This record attempt will show that connectivity is no longer a limitation to cruises. Passengers using MedallionNet have internet access at speeds which eclipse typical hotel connectivity performance levels.
During the event, Carnival will attempt to reach 1.5 gigabits per second as the Regal Princess ship is off Princess Cays, one of brand’s private island destinations. 1.5 gigabits per second bandwidth capacity will provide guests with unprecedented Wi-Fi access which equates to over 6,000 users concurrently surfing the internet.
