Costa Cruises started selling tickets for the inaugural voyage of Costa Venezia, the new ship of the Italian company currently being built at Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy.
The cruise sets off from Trieste on March 8, 2019, on a 53-day, eastbound itinerary in the footsteps of Marco Polo which ends in Yokohama on April 29, 2019.
It will take passengers on a voyage of discovery through various cultures, just like the famous explorer. The cruise ship will leave the Mediterranean and cross Suez Canal and Red Sea prior to entering Persian Gulf, visiting Dubrovnik, Bari, Greece, Israel, Jordan and Oman.
After visits to Dubai and Abu Dhabi, the ship will head to India, Sri Lanka and Malaysia. Cruise's last leg will be the Far East, including Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Taiwan, and Japan.
The inaugural cruise is still the only cruise option available on the new liner. Costa Venezia is the first of Costa Cruises ships to be built for the Chinese market. After her first voyage, it will be dedicated to the local market.
The ship will be homeported in China (Shanghai) for year-round passenger shipping operations exclusively in Asia.
A second cruise ship specifically designed for the market in China, Venezia's sister is scheduled for delivery by Fincantieri in 2020.
