Viking Cruises announced a new agreement with Fincantieri, Italy that could see the delivery of 6 additional ocean cruise ships by 2027.
The new understanding expands line’s partnership with Fincantieri, raising the total ocean ship order and options of Viking to 16 – the highest-ever for one shipyard from single owner.
The agreement for 6 additional ships, to be delivered in 2024, 2025, 2026, 2027, is subject to specific conditions.
The announcement comes prior to the naming ceremony of Viking’s 4th ocean ship, Viking Sun (March 8, 2018) in Shanghai. The vessel is currently sailing Viking’s 141-day World Cruise from Miami FL to London, and its visit to Shanghai will mark the first time a Viking Cruises ocean ship has called in China. The liner will also become the first-ever cruise ship named in Shanghai.
10 additional ships are currently on order for delivery beginning in 2021.
