Fred Olsen’s cruise ship Boudicca is undergoing an extensive refit from Saturday, March 17, at Blohm + Voss shipyard in Hamburg. The cruise ship will return to the UK for a 5-night ‘Mystery Cruise’, departing Dover on March 29, 2018.
The Blohm + Voss schedule for ms Boudicca includes engineering works, general refurbishment and painting of ship's interiors and exterior.
One of the main focuses is the stripping out and renovation of all 462 staterooms of the ship. All will receive new carpets, lamps and soft furnishings. As with the rest in the fleet, new balcony furniture is installed, and all rooms will boast safes, mini-fridges, interactive smart TVs.
Extensive upgrading and remodeling of the dining facilities and public rooms includes the Morning Light Pub which will be moved to the portside of Secret Garden Cafe. The Heligan Room will become the ‘Indian Ocean Restaurant’, offering the same imitate dining space as the ‘Orchid Room’ aboard sister ship Black Watch.
The vacated by Morning Light Pub space on Lounge Deck 6 is to be converted into ‘Oriental Tea Room’, serving Oriental specialties, with exotic decor and Far Eastern influence.
The focal point of ms Boudicca, its Guest Services area on Main Deck 5, will also be refurbished, making it more user-friendly for passengers.
Black Watch benefitted from improvement work in the end of 2016, while Balmoral and Braemar were refurbished before 2017 Christmas.
