Cunard Line announced the lineup of speakers for their 2nd annual Transatlantic Space Week cruise. The unique 9-night voyage onboard RMS Queen Mary 2 will depart from New York City October 7, 2018 and arrive in Southampton October 16. The trip once again coincides with International World Space Week.
The Transatlantic Space Week cruise will feature various space-themed experiences, such as talks from space explorers, including:
- Dr.Jeffery Hoffman, former NASA astronaut and shuttle pilot. He made 5 space flights, becoming the first to log 1,000 hours of flight time on the Space Shuttle. Currently, he is Professor of Aerospace Engineering in Department of Aeronautics & Astronautics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
- Robin Scagell of Royal Astronomical Society is an astronomer and author of many books, including 101 Things to Spot in the Night Sky, The Urban Astronomy Guide and Complete Guide to Stargazing.
- Dr.Lawrence Kuznetz is former flight controller during Apollo and 40-year veteran of the space program. He helped built the space shuttles and is also a former Life Science Experiment Manager for International Space Station.
Cunard's Queen Mary 2 is the only cruise ship to feature a full-sized planetarium, its Illuminations, onboard, offering various virtual reality rides and constellation shows on each transatlantic crossing.
