Genting Cruise Lines soon announced its collaboration with JA Okinawa (Okinawa Agricultural Cooperatives Association), and Leospo Inc., revealing an exceptional gastronomic experience with Okinawa’s finest selection of locally produced and home-grown premium delicacies, including the world-famous Okinawa Agu pork and Okinawa Wagyu beef for its summer cruises to Okinawa on selected vessels.
Cruisers can experience many of Okinawa’s fresh produce across the Genting fleet, including non-export delicacies only available in Japan. The Okinawan specialties will be served onboard World Dream, SuperStar Aquarius, SuperStar Gemini and SuperStar Virgo.
From April through November 2018, passengers embarking on any of Okinawa summer itineraries with Genting Cruise Lines will enjoy specially designed themed menus, using many of Okinawa’s best delicacies like the highly-acclaimed Okinawa Wagyu beef, primarily reserved for in-land consumption because of its scarce supply, and the rich Okinawa Agu pork, signature ingredient in region’s cuisine.
The gastronomic journey begins on World Dream, the latest Dream Cruises member, where signature Okinawa Agu pork and Okinawa Wagyu beef will be served in traditional Japanese dishes including Teppanyaki (iron grill) and Shabu Shabu (hot pot). Chinese food lovers will have the chance to enjoy BBQ Okinawa Agu Pork, and two varieties of wok-fried dishes: Okinawa beef rib eye with preserved sweet plum sauce and Okinawa beef with bitter gourd and garlic.
Guests of World Dream will be immersed in Okinawan culture as they'll be able to enjoy Sanshin music performances, Awamori appreciations, arts and crafts workshops.
Genting Cruise Lines will offer a total of 160 cruises to Okinawa during summer with 4 cruise ships, comprising of Dream Cruises and Star Cruises, taking passengers to picturesque Ishigaki, Miyakojima, Naha and Yonaguni/Yaeyama Islands.
