With the visit planned by Crystal Esprit to Port Castello (Castellon de la Plana, Spain) a total of 6 calls are planned for 2019 at the port.
Port of Castellon de la Plana has prepared a dock in the interior harbour for the call by the ship. In this way the cruise passengers benefit from direct access to the town's maritime district without the need of taking transport.
The visit is added to the 4 that are planned by Marella Cruises and the 1 by Oceania Cruises, making 6 in total for 2019.
The increase in the number of cruise ship calls, until now never more than 2 in a year, is the result of a new strategy by the Port Authority of Castellón through ‘Castellon Cruise Club’ association made up of groups with interests in cruise traffic.
The person behind the new effort to promote cruise traffic is the president of Port Authority of Castellon, Francisco Toledo, who employed the services of specialised company, BA Europe.
The result of the collaboration has been setting up of a variety of lines of work, including the personalised focus offered to each shipping company, including specifically planned trips.
At the same time a total of 25 commercial establishments in Castellon have signed on to ‘Castellon Cruise Friendly‘ plan - a quality certificate which can be applied for by any businesses that are interested in attracting cruise passengers and are ready to conform to a number of requirements.
