German operator TUI Cruises celebrates its 10th anniversary today, April 22, marking a decade since it was established as a joint venture between tourism group TUI AG and cruise operator Royal Caribbean.
Over the past ten years, the company has commissioned 6 Mein Schiff cruise ships, welcomed 2.2 million passengers and visited over 200 ports worldwide.
Further growth is due in the next 2 years: the new Mein Schiff 1 will be officially christened in Hamburg on May 11, and a new Mein Schiff 2 is under construction at Meyer Turku yard, Finland.
When the latter is launched in 2019, TUI will boast a fleet of 7 vessels with a capacity of nearly 17,800 beds. Another liner, Mein Schiff 7, is due for delivery in 2023.
TUI Cruises scheduled a number of celebratory activities and events in order to mark its anniversary throughout this year.
