The largest leisure travel company in the world, Carnival Corporation & plc, officially opened its 2nd cruise terminal at Port of Barcelona on Saturday, May 5, with inauguration ceremony attended by government, community and business representatives.
During the ceremony, the corporation revealed that the name of its new 12,500 m2 state-of-the-art terminal will be Helix cruise center. At more than 46 million euros, Helix terminal and company’s existing terminal at port Barcelona represent the largest combined terminal investment of Carnival Corporation in Europe.
Designed by Catalan architecture company Batlle i Roig Arquitectura, Carnival's newest terminal reflects modern architectural style featuring straight lines, and creating comfortable guest environment.
Also debuting shortly will be the first public parking facility of the port, providing guests embarking on voyages with access to around 300 parking spaces.
The Helix terminal will accommodate thenext-generation “green” cruisers of Carnival Corporation that will be fully LNG-powered (by liquefied natural gas).
