Princess Cruises has called off the search and rescue operation for an Australian passenger in his 80s who went overboard from Sun Princess while en route to Port Klang Malaysia.
The vessel is around 100 nautical miles southeast of Singapore on a 12-day itinerary from Fremantle. Sun Princess departed on May 13.
Indonesian search and rescue authorities have already released Sun Princess, whose crew searched until dark for the elderly man.
A Perth resident onboard tweeted that the captain of the ship had told passengers CCTV footage had confirmed the overboard.
The captain turned the cruise ship back and arrived back at the point where the traveller went overboard. Fast rescue ships were launched and Sun Princess conducted square search pattern.
