The U.S. Coast Guard is still searching for a 50-year-old Carnival cruise passenger who went overboard Tuesday morning, May 22, while sailing aboard Carnival Paradise with his family. The man, identified as Brian Lamonds, went missing 85 miles west of Fort Myers, Florida.
A statement from the Coast Guard said that Coast Guard Key West watchstanders had received a call at approx 10:00 a.m. from the ship stating the man had been missing and reportedly had gone overboard from Carnival Paradise.
It's still unclear what led Lamonds to go missing. A slew of emergency responders were called to help search for the man who is Greensboro, North Carolina, native. Coast Guard's Air Station Clearwater MH-60 helicopter crew was deployed, as was HC-144 Ocean Sentry Aircraft Crew.
Carnival Corporation & PLC announced it was working with authorities.
