The Danish shipping and logistics company DFDS is selling 2 of its older ferries to Ukraine-based Black Sea operator Ukrferry.
According to a press statement, the expected gain is DKK 20 million (EUR 2.7 million). The couple of combined freight and passenger ferries, Vilnius Seaways and Kaunas Seaways (built in 1987 and 1989, respectively), will be delivered in July.
The ferries have been on charter to Ukrferry for several years, deployed on routes in the Black Sea. The two previously operated in the Baltic Sea route network of DFDS.
The sale affects the employment of about 70 crew members that the company will seek to employ in its own route network.
