Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri and Costa Cruises celebrated the official float-out of Costa Venezia on Friday, June 22.
Costa Venezia is line's first ship specifically designed and built for the Chinese market. The ceremony took place at Fincantieri shipyard (Monfalcone, Italy), where the vessel is currently being built.
As part of the float-out ceremony, the newbuild officially reached the sea for the very first time. The celebrations followed the protocol provided by seafaring tradition for occasions of the kind, by flooding the basin where the vessel took shape in recent months, after cutting of the ribbon and breaking of the bottle by the godmother Chiara Ustulin, Monfalcone shipyard's employee.
Costa Venezia is due to enter service in March 2019, after her interior fittings are completed.
