The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is reporting an outbreak of norovirus onboard Holland America Line's cruise ship in Alaska.
73 people reported falling ill on ms Zaandam which is carrying over 2,000 passengers and crew.
On Friday, June 23, Holland America released a statement confirming that a number of cruise passengers had reported falling ill with stomach virus on Monday. The cruise company said it had activated a protocol to isolate ill guests in their cabins, as well as had cleaned door handles, railings and other commonly touched surfaces in order to prevent the virus from spreading.
MS Zaandam was docked in Juneau, Alaska all day on Friday, June 22. It departed at 10:00 p.m. and headed to a number of other Alaska ports before returning to Seattle July 2.
