The largest square in Hamburg features traditional carousels, spectacular trees and stalls filled with gingerbread, Tyrolean woodcarvings, pottery and crafts from across Germany.
The Christmas voyages are among the last aboard Saga Pearl II. In Bremerhaven passengers can see the future of the company sailing with the new 999-passenger ship, Spirit of Discovery, currently under construction, from observation galleries at Meyer Werft shipbuilding centre.
