A 79-year-old passenger suffering chest pains has been hoisted off a Norwegian Cruise Line ship close to Cuba and hustled to Jackson Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, July 4, the U.S. Coast Guard announced.
According to ship's itinerary, Norwegian Sky was a couple of hours from leaving Havana, when it notified USCG Key West watchstanders that the passenger, named Miguel Negron, needed emergency care.
MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Miami got to the cruise ship, then 64 miles southwest of Key West, at around 4:45 p.m.
Norwegian Sky spent Thursday, July 5, in Great Stirrup Cay and returns to Miami Friday morning.
